Wing Information

Falas Weyr is a "Support Weyr", meaning it never flies a full Fall by itself. It assists the "parent" Weyr. In the Tenth Pass the parent was Fort Weyr as it was a project that Weyrleader B'trel and Weyrwoman Viana supported J'tha and M'zal in. Not only was gold Lexshanath and bronze Hadanth the parents of most of the founding dragons, they also saw a use for a small weyr that could rest riders and fly under the main wings during a fall. Falas' drill trainings keeps riders prepared to merge under a new Wingleader from the other Weyr. In the Eleventh Pass, Monaco Bay jumped on this concept presented by Ph'sey who failed to convince the Fort Weyrleader, D'relon, of Falas' need and use. T'vel (who's bronze-brown Terenth sired the founding queen, Nysheth), was young and willing to take a chance on this idea hatched by Ph'sey of Fort and two of his own bronze riders, J'ren and K'dan.

The Wing Roster you see to the left is often divided during Falls. K'man and J'ren are both Flightleaders - K'man's flight will fly with Forth. He often takes the "original" wings with him - N'ris, Z'ril and M'zal's wings are part of his Flight. J'ren takes the remaining wings - B'torl and Miwah fly with him. One reason K'man gets four wings, not three, is because of the sport dragons who cannot fly full falls. M'zal's wings is often back up an reinforcement for the sport dragons if a full four hour fall is required. Otherwise, M'zal's wing fills into the other three to make their's bigger.

Back at the Weyr, each Wingleader is responsible for the training of their wing as in any other Weyr. It is not uncommon for a wingleader to walk up to an assmbled group of riders from another wing, grin and say that he will lead them. Wingleaders practice swaping riders during mock Falls. They will pretend one Wing (or Flight when their is time,) is the Parent Weyr and will practice losing riders and filling their positions. D'relon and T'vel are very good at helping this and some drills are performed with the Fort or Monaco Bay wings. K'man first stressed these training tactics to J'ren who has finally conviced the whiterider that he intends to stick with them.

Falas Weyr suffers very little casulties, in truth, and this is mostly due to the fact that I'm sure no one wants me to between a dragon they have given me from their Weyr - or I'm too attached to them. However, my NPC characters do and will die more then not. No, Falas is not an elite Weyr and supiror to the others. I just don't want to kill ALL my characters all the time. They fly low - but do have high standards enforced my my WeyrlingMaster and my Wingleaders who I have chosen from my best bronze riders, those that "fit the bill" for keeping my pretties alive. And if you have to know, they list as thus (best to...least experianced [worse isn't very nice after all]): K'man, M'zal, N'ris, J'ren, Miwah, B'torl, and lastly the "easy-going" Z'ril who's wing acts more like a bump up from the Weyrlings Wing to "whip the whipper-snappers into shape".
